Rambling of a Normal Guy: ... and you are crying why?

Welcome to another addition of ramblings of a normal guy. This is my special column where I go off on wild rants complaining about the things that happen and effect my (and ours) every day life. Because of the excessive amounts of stupidity that will be featured, a large amount of inappropriate language will most likely be used. Also expect a large helping of calling out and "I don't give a crap". Rated M for mature, and read at  your own risk.

You've been warned by the way, there will be lots of cursing or/and offensive comments.

I hope you will pardon me if I open this post with a "back in my day" moment. You see, I was born around the same time as the modern internet. That would be AOL 1.0 kids. Having grown up with the internet, I'm no stranger to the activities and questionable things people do there. But as I grow older, I grow more and more concerned by a pattern I am seeing. I watch the younger generation become addicted to twitter, myspace, facebook and more. They put their personal lives on full display then complain when people comment on it. I would think if you want something kept private, you wouldn't put it on a public forum. Same with being left alone. If "something really bad happened, but I don't want to talk about it", then keep it to yourself, not Facebook. It gets even worse when it comes to opinions. To many of the younger (and even older) generations, they are starting to think opinions are the same as fact. They will make a statement, then expect everyone to agree with it, then cry is someone dare speaks against it. With this type of disturbing attitude allowed to fester and grow, they become one of the worse things this world can produce... the attention whore. The attention whore is a pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

  • Is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention. Will produce videos or make up drama in order to get said attention back.
  • Interaction with others is often characterized by "hey look at me, me me me me me". Any deviation away from them will result in child like tantrums.
  • Will often try to downplay or belittle others then cry, complain and act hurt when their plans do not net them more attention.
  • Will often expect others to do as they want (all the time) because they are the center.
  • Displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions. Will often use said emotions to play overdone or made up drama for even more attention.
  • Will use physical appearance, attitude, ideology or some form of "religion"  to draw attention to self.
  • Has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail. Otherwise known as "Talking a lot but saying nothing."
  • Shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion. Will also use other legitimate misfortune or situation to draw attention to themselves.
  • Is suggestible and will often join any social/political/religious group that gives them attention.
  • Considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are.
  • Will use "selective memory" or completely rewrite the past in order to make themselves appear more than they are.
If you ever worked in customer service, or spent five minutes on Facebook, you know exactly what I am talking about. The one who always posts about "being so fat" but weighs 100lbs soaking wet? The one who overreacts over the simplest things? The one who thinks they can tell others what they can and can not do based on weight ("you can't cos-play, you're fat")? The "this post is about me (when it's not), I'm mad now"? All are examples of such.  So what does this have to do with today's post? Because today, we have a "religious" douchbag who thought it was a great idea to attention whore... then complained about it.

Rambling of a Normal Guy: You know what they say about Opinions....

Welcome to another addition of ramblings of a normal guy. This is my special column, where I go off on wild rants complaining about the things that happen and effect my (and ours) every day life. Because of the excessive amounts of stupidity that will be featured, a large amount of inappropriate language will most likely be used. So if you've been reading my blog for a while, you probably figured out two things about me. The first, is that I do not write often because of time, work and all around laziness. The second is that when I do write, it is because of something that is very important to me. So why I am writing today, right smack in the middle of programming my own game? Well you see, while I was on Facebook looking over various post of cats, cats, and more cats (did I mention cats?), I found a random post by a friend. It was a picture of a news article about a woman speaking about the evils of "the gays". True, we have freedom of speech in the US, so she is welcome to say what ever she wants. But while everyone is entitled to their opinion, everyone is also entitled to respond.. especially when they are being a whiny bitch. The image below is the article in question, I highly recommend reading it first... despite that nature of the article.

Ramblings of a Normal Guy: A Rambling for Gay Marriage Part 2!

WARNING: There might be some disturbing images in this rambling of people that where beaten and abused. This is the world we live in, and a world which such utter bullshit happens. I ask you not to look away, but if you must just be warned. Also as a note, this was suppose to be just a part two, but because of the length and amount of ranting, I had to move this to a three part project.

And so... here we are again.

When I was first considering writing the previous rambling for equal rights and equal marriage, it took a considerable amount of time to get from start to finish. Formulating the how and why took far more time than I first anticipated, my bad thinking it would be a quick fix. Eventually it took a mental push in the form of being forced asked to write this, to finally get the ball rolling and the paper finished. As I began to write, and the paragraphs started forming, I knew this wasn't going to be pretty. When one challenges a long held religious beliefs, especially when they are considered so central to ones faith, one must go about it slowly, logically and with care. If one does not, the entire thing will turn into nothing more than a bitch fest. After all, saying "You're stupid" doesn't even work for kids anymore... So then, when the job was finally completed, five big points where addressed that opponents like to use to justify their mistrust/hate/oppression with equal rights. When I hit the publish button I knew it wouldn't take long to get interesting emails. Oh boy where they fun too. But all in all, I was pretty much done with the subject. I was also content to have just one issue of it because, if you allow me a moment of pride, I thought one was enough. Anything more would just be an annoying circle jerk and saying the same bloody thing over and over and over again.

Then I had the unfortunate pleasure of being refereed to NOM's recent video.

Ramblings of a Normal Guy: A Rambling for Gay Marriage

Welcome to another addition of ramblings of a normal guy. This is my special column, where I go off on wild rants complaining about the things that happen and effect my (and ours) every day life. Because of the excessive amounts of stupidity that will be featured, a large amount of inappropriate language will most likely be used. Also expect a large helping of calling out and "I don't give a crap". Rated M for mature, and read at  your own risk.

So before we do this, I need to get a few things straight;

As many of you know by now, I have this growing desire to be pat of and participate in the human rights moment. Why? Because... well it's just not right how humans treat each other. It's deplorable really. The color of one's skin should not dictate social standing, just like who one's love shouldn't get them chained to a car and dragged to death. Seriously, how could anyone thing this is ok to do? How the fuck could anyone think it's ok to kill another because they are gay? All people are equal, all people have the right to life and all people have the right to love. No "god", no bullshit religion, and no book could nor should ever take that away. And no, being gay doesn't lead to bestiality. So it was probably because of this belief, that I was asked to write a essay for gay marriage. Sure, no big there! Yet confident in my choose, a bit of iffyness hits me. It can be best described as doing something you know is right, but also knowing it isn't going to be pretty. As I'm sitting here formulating how I'm going to write this, my brain box races with different ways this will all play out. The purpose of this rambling is to open eyes, not a bitch fest.*1 I happen to know a few people who are very religious, one happens to be a great friend. I want to go about this to show that gay marriage really isn't this horrid thing, not do anything to offend his beliefs. Can I actually do this?

Another point I want to make before I begin in this; when one uses the bible to make arguments about anything of a (non)religious nature, a certain mind set is present. The bible is a two thousand old year old book that many believe is without question or suspect. Within the pages, such people say that nothing is subject to interpretation, nothing is in need of being "updated" to current times and nothing is in need of editing in, out or changed. The bible is a book said to have divine inspiration, and as such should not be held to any mortal law or thought. Each person should and MUST have the right to believe in what they hold true, even if we and others think them batshit insane. While I may find much of Christianity suspect, and the ideas of Creationism just silly, each person that holds true belief in it, must forever be allowed to do so in peace. Religion and faith is their personal relationship in the Divine, not a bloody boxing match! My only problem comes when people use such religion for ego, profit or (in this case) to deny others civil rights.

Religion is yours to keep, not force on others.

Now that I'm here, and as I further organize my thoughts about this, and I'm just about ready to get started, I come to the realization I will probably offend some people. No matter how one puts it, how nicely it is said or what evidence is presented, there will always be at least one person who takes offense. When one mixes speaking about human rights, taboos and the bible, well let's just say it rarely ends well. As I said before, people have very specific and fixed ideas when it comes to their religious worlds, and when questioned, it is rarely handled civilly. But I seem to be repeat loop here. The purpose of today's Ramblings of a Normal Guy is not to insult or shake ones faith. If you are offended by this, and you are not a egotistical a-hole, I do apologize but ask you to read on. If it shakes your faith in what ever you hold, these are issues you should probably address with yourself.

So yea... here goes.

How WBC Fails: God H8's 13/19

The Westboro Baptist Church (or WBC) is an Independent Baptist “church” known for its extreme stance against homosexuality, other religions, and anything else that tickles their fancy. They are also known for their greatly offensive protest activities against fallen service men/woman and high profile aka popular people. In this special section, we will explore their hateful and distorted “divine” teachings and expose them for what they truly are, a hate group who uses religion for personal power.

Update: Videos have been removed. Blog now shows video of all of them combined.
Bible Verse use:
(They may be out of order here, just because I had a hell of a time seeing them)
Mat 7:1: It comes in a few different version, but its basically the title of the video.
Jer 15:19: Therefore this is what the LORD says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them.
1 Cor 6:23: Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
Heb 5:14: But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Josh 7:24: Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

What's good for one is good for all right?

Judging, we all do it.

How WBC Fails: God H8's 10/19

Bible Verse use:
2 Pet. 1:20:  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

So here we are big number ten.

Hitting this half way mark, I found my self reflecting on the time spent on this so far. I also found myself returning to previous entries to clean them up a bit. Which I do hope many of my readers will forgive me, in my haste to disprove such cults, I sometimes (often) find my spelling and grammar lacking. While I am still not not Catholic nor do I have any wish to be, I still appreciate the learning experience it has been for me. Learning the true message of the man Jesus, learning just how meanings of various words and phrases can change over the decades, and even learning a bit of Hebrew along the way! Perhaps you can remember with me quickly how, in past editions, I have wrote at length (and burning eyes ugh!) on how this or that translation could not only destroy the flow of a verse, but also cause a great amount of confusion. A very good and often sighted example of this is how the WBC used Jer 17:9 to show the hearts of humans are evil 24/7 365. If we used the same translation or interpretation for the rest of the bible, well Jesus turns into an evil most foul. Yea…Today’s video is somehow fitting for our half way mark. In today's review/rebuking; we have WBC cult member Fred Jr inform us that the bible is NOT subject to interpretation. That everything writing in the bible is the firm word of law of their god that can not be ignored, negotiated, or revised. As a not so hidden side message, the WBC also try to prove with this video is that everything they have said to date (and will continue to say) is also the world of law.

Acts 10:9-17: A story about when Peter was hungry.
1 tim 4:4: For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with  thanksgiving.
Eph 1:23: Which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Matt 19:4-5: And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Jude 1:7: In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
Rev 22:15: Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Language.

According to Wikipedia;
Language refers either to the specifically human capacity for acquiring and using complex systems of communication, or to a specific instance of such a system of complex communication. The approximately 3000–6000 languages that are spoken by humans today are the most salient examples, but natural languages can also be based on visual rather than auditive stimuli, for example in sign languages and written language. Codes and other kinds of artificially constructed communication systems such as those used for computer programming can also be called languages. A language in this sense is a system of signs for encoding and decoding information. The English word derives from Latin lingua, "language, tongue." This metaphoric relation between language and the tongue exists in many languages and testifies to the historical prominence of spoken languages. When used as a general concept, "language" refers to the cognitive faculty that enables humans to learn and use systems of complex communication.
Also included in this is change. Language change or the evolution of language is the phenomenon whereby phonetic, morphological, semantic, syntactic, and other features of language vary over time. The effect on language over time known as diachronic change. Two linguistic disciplines in particular concern themselves with studying language change: historical linguistics and sociolinguistics. Historical linguists examine how people in the past used language and seek to determine how subsequent languages derive from previous ones and relate to one another. Sociolinguists study the origins of language changes and want to explain how society and changes in society influence language.

Bible verses mentioned:
Jon 8: This would be the story of “he who is without sin”

Have you ever worked in retail? Perhaps customer service? If so, then you know about the wonderful variety of customers life can throw at you. From silly whines and never ending complaints, to all around stupid remarks and actions, one wonders how a bar doesn't open up next to every retail store. When I am at work, and unable to part take in a good Irish beer, I drink a lot of Snapple. Treating it much like my brother treats the captain, it not only tastes amazing but it also helps the calming process. It helps me deal with the amazing amounts of stupid and rudeness that spews from these people. These same people who think themselves everyone’s betters.... Remind you of everyone? When taking the time to write about America's most hated family, I make sure to have a least a six pack of delicious awesomenss with me. If am fortune it enough, the pack will last until the end of the video before the curses start flying. And do they fly.

How any person or group of people could hold this much hate inside of them scares me. How they could house and even improve upon it frightens me to the core. Even worse is how quickly these people can turn on their own family. Their own flesh and blood, their children, brothers or sisters or even parents! Any sign of “godly weakness” and your sent straight to hell. It is just… I don’t even have a word for it. Of course what do you expect from people who said “Hitler was an instrument of God”.

Religious Nuts Exposed: God H8's 1/19

The Westboro Baptist Church (or WBC) is an Independent Baptist “church” known for its extreme stance against homosexuality, other religions, and anything else that tickles their fancy. They are also known for their greatly offensive protest activities against fallen service men/woman and high profile aka popular people. In this special section, we will explore their hateful and distorted “divine” teachings and expose them for what they truly are, a hate group who uses religion for personal power.

Before we begin with this (what is now popular) rebuking and discreating thing, I would like to begin with a short story.
You know, It’s kinda funny how one small event can have such a HUGE impact. Of course once you think about it, life is full of such events isn't it? Your first kiss, your first bump on the head, that time you learn fire is frigging hot.... all little life events that shape and form the greater part of what we are. Ah fond memories.

When I began this little thing with the Westboro Baptist Church (or the WBC is you prefer) I really didn't think much would come of it; nor did I honestly think it would last long. Sure, I would counter protest them when they made their appearances; I would have a bit of fun trolling their twitter, but that would be it. It's basically what any other young blooded (at least at the time I was) American would do. Besides, my free time is far to short, and I have far more important things to doing. Why waste any of it worrying about some hick inbreeds who use religion as an excuse for insanity. Hell I still have video games to finish playing! Disgaea here I come!

But frack me, it didn't end there.
