Religious Nuts Exposed: God H8's 1/19

The Westboro Baptist Church (or WBC) is an Independent Baptist “church” known for its extreme stance against homosexuality, other religions, and anything else that tickles their fancy. They are also known for their greatly offensive protest activities against fallen service men/woman and high profile aka popular people. In this special section, we will explore their hateful and distorted “divine” teachings and expose them for what they truly are, a hate group who uses religion for personal power.

Before we begin with this (what is now popular) rebuking and discreating thing, I would like to begin with a short story.
You know, It’s kinda funny how one small event can have such a HUGE impact. Of course once you think about it, life is full of such events isn't it? Your first kiss, your first bump on the head, that time you learn fire is frigging hot.... all little life events that shape and form the greater part of what we are. Ah fond memories.

When I began this little thing with the Westboro Baptist Church (or the WBC is you prefer) I really didn't think much would come of it; nor did I honestly think it would last long. Sure, I would counter protest them when they made their appearances; I would have a bit of fun trolling their twitter, but that would be it. It's basically what any other young blooded (at least at the time I was) American would do. Besides, my free time is far to short, and I have far more important things to doing. Why waste any of it worrying about some hick inbreeds who use religion as an excuse for insanity. Hell I still have video games to finish playing! Disgaea here I come!

But frack me, it didn't end there.

Something, I'm not sure what, kept egging me on. That little voice we all have in our heads kept telling me "do not leave this". So during times when I would spend either playing video games or just generally screwing around, I found myself instead researching this cult more and more. I would bury myself in news articles, have both of my computers and ipod (yes I am that much of a nerd) running searches for every bit of WBC info on the net. Something in my head clicked, I had to find out every little thing about these people, and every little thing to discredit them. These "people" where using a religion not only for some twisted personal gain, but also corrupting any good that could come of it. When this thing of mine started, I thought it would be over in a flash... now I'm in it for the long haul; I'm in it till the WBC is no more.  LOK’TAR!

Edit: I wanted to take a moment and explain something quickly. I am not Christian nor do I wish to be. I thank you for caring what happens to my soul, but I assure you I will be fine. Please re-frame from sending me recruitment emails. Also the reason I use the bible in all of this is because the WBC claims to follow it. It's basically using their own thing against them.

If this is your first time here, I invite you to check out my previous entries about how I had a bit of fun with them on twitter (which was a utter failure on both sides) and how I managed to get a somewhat decent email Q&A session. In it, I presented a list of the most non-threaten and least insulting questions I could come up with. While the email did little more than confirm a view point on them, I couldn't just stop there. How easily the excuse "if we had the time to think about it, the answers would have been better" could be used. Perhaps they would mention something about how I twisted their answers to make the WBC look bad (oh the irony). So what can I do next? How would I continue this thing without seemingly over doing it? The truth is I really can’t. No matter what I do, they will see it as me picking on them. They will see this as an endless attack on their faith.

So to hell with it.

How about we venture to material they already released then? In this series of "How the WBC fails, God H8's" we will explore the videos they have had time to formulate and plan. Will they fare any better than a exchange on twitter or email? Well let's see.

~ Videos are VERY offensive and songs are horridly off key. If anyone should use autotune, it's these people.
~ Most of the videos have now been taken down because of their hateful nature. How sad :(

Name: Pt 1 - People should be accepted for who they are
Link: http://twitvid.com/DEUCC
Update: Videos have been removed. Blog now shows video of all of them combined.
Bible verses mentioned:
Jer 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?,
Heb 12:1: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us ,
Gal 5:17: For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want,
Rom 9:22: What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?

I have tried my best when starting out to be impassionate, you know try to stay the whole "3rd person looking in" thing, but that didn’t last long. Nor could it. I am but a simple human, one that is very much in touch with his emotions. I both error and do good; I am both angry at time and caring. I accept that and embrace it; heck its part of who I am. To deny any part of me, or the world around me would only serve to diminish myself. The whole point of this video is to say that accepting people (and yourself by proxy) for who and what they are is foolish and sinful. This is somewhat odd considering the message they have in future videos; one of which everything is pre-decided and God made us all. But let's explore this video, let us see what our host Abi has to say.

What she said: "Why don't you accept the murder the way he is, or the rapist or the thief"
But but but... We as a society accept people for who they are and treat them accordingly. This is not an opinion but fact. For proof one only needs to address the morning or evening news for instances of arrests, punishments and various verdicts from both higher and lower courts. Do we accept the rapist and murder (for who they are) as suggested in the video? But of course we do! If we as a people can not acknowledge and accept the faults of our world, how could we move forward? Should we just deny the world by putting our fingers in our ears? What possible good could that do? We, as a society, accept people then treat them accordingly. "Accepting" doesn't mean you have to like it, we merely acknowledge the fact people preform this way than act accordingly. If said criminal is affected by some type of mental condition, we take some pitty on them and refer them to X treatments. If said person is question is just a jerkface who needs a boot to the nads, then we throw their worthless ass in jail.  While it is a far cry from a "eye for an eye" the punishment is still there.

What she said: "All humans are totally depraved and do nothing but evil. 24/7 365." Jer 17:9 is shown during this.

Edit: I wanted to take a moment to address something I did not catch before. We see here Abi saying that all humans are evil, and do such evil during every moment of their lives. I wonder, would they also not be bond by this, considering (at least last time I checked) they too are all human, and born of the flesh? Just something to think about... now back to your regularly scheduled blogging;

As the video continues, the verse Jer 17:9 is presented with us. It states that The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? With this verse alone, Abi sees this as ample justification for deeming all humans wicked and evil, for every moment of their lives. How kind. This is a great (and one of many) example of what my friend likes to describe as “selective bible hearing”. That is, the act of taking this or that passage, verse or story and making it sound like it was created to support a different argument. Ex: Having the children of Israeli being the "elect" also means the "people" of the WBC are elect.

If the WBC bothered to read the entire passage of Jeremiah, and we are talking about the original source code here, perhaps such mistakes and general silliness could have been avoided. These verse relate the story of how Judah’s sin fell into the “your screwed” section, of how people who where dumb enough to trust in him became cursed and how people who trust in GOD (WBC is not mentioned anywhere) are blessed. In fact, the “people who trust God” line comes right before Jer 17:9. Wait wut?!? A bit confusing isn’t it? How can people who have a evil heart all the time trust in a good and loving God? One would think evil would never trust good, and would only seek to corrupt/destroy it. This, my readers, is what happens when you translate and retranslate a supposed 2000 year old book. It's also what happens when you have to many people messing with something. To many hands in the pot if you will.

So how can we be blessed but also wicked at the same time?

I am in no way a expert in the Christian Bible*1, to many pages and constriction for me. I, like many people, can only understand what we have in front of us at the time, and draw upon past experiences to guide us in understanding. With this in mind I took a stab at what this passage really ment, not what the WBC feed us. The idea behind this passage is that Judah turned away from God*2 and is cursed. Judah (among other things) engaged in the proverbial act of “biting the hand that feeds you” a dumb idea in anyone's book. Those who trust in the LORD (read: again we see no mention of the WBC) are blessed, after which this same God searches the heart to determine whether one is trusting in themselves, or trusting in God in matters of faith. This is how they got their eternal reward, that being hanging out and partying in Heaven. But still how does verse 9 (the one in question) fit into this. Either the big guy is a woman going through rapid mood swings, or else something is wrong with the passage. To hell if I know, my head is so empty of Snapple I couldn’t tell the difference between a hippo and a hand grenade.

*comes back an hour later*

If you’re wondering, I just pounded away six bottles of Snapple while watching Planet Earth, totally supper effective in clearing the head. Verse 9, at least the way it is presented, is used to describe the treachery of our own heart. It states the heart is this little evil thing that always screws up and leads us down a dark and scary path. It is evil and corrupt and pumps our blood around the body >_>. If the heart is so wicked, then what is the purpose verse 10? That is, why would God bother searching the heart? Also if we are to believe that everything is per-arranged (as the WBC states many times) why would the all father be searching to begin with? Hasn't the good/evil aliment already been set? It's like in the game D&D, you know your characters alignment when you roll them, it doesn't magically appear out of no where. If we take some time to skip ahead 2 Chron. 16:9 recounts Hanani telling Asa "that the eyes of the LORD are searching for those whose heart is loyal to Him".

The heart is evil 24/7,
All human hearts are corrupt,
God is searching for the good in peoples hearts,
God searches and finds hearts of humans loyal to him.

What the bleeding hell is going on here, we are getting no where fast.

If all of what the WBC says is to be believed, that nothing here makes sense. Not like anything does with them. Either the WBC is wrong or the writers and editors of the bible pounding away a few Captains before getting to work, cause everything is messed up here.

The source of all of this confusion is in fact language. When one takes writings of any kind from one language to another, one must take into account the time it was written and the cultural surroundings as well. The fact of the matter is this poor verse has gone by more translation passes than Lady Gaga has dresses. I wont bore you with the walk threw with the original Hebrew translation*3 but what it should say is “The heart is complex (from the idea of deceptively unknowable) and fragile (the concept of being extremely vulnerable to life-threatening conditions), who can know it?" If we return to the source of the Jewish testaments the verse now flows more naturally and makes sense. God, the all might all father, searches this complex and fragile heart to give to each one according to his ways. For the ways of man (some good and some bad) flow from this complex and fragile heart, as Jesus taught.

Shocking.

What she said : "Your duty is to lay aside that sin that so easily beset you. Not wallow in it"  *she then preforms some strange dance*

Continuing on with this video of such maturity, we are now presented with Heb 12:1, and told that our duty to cast aside this sin *4 not wallow in it. Just as Ms Phelps stated in this video, (around 7:20) so should the cult, READ THE WHOLE VERSE! What this passage is talking about is that in the crazy journey of life and faith, we are not alone. Be we White or Black, rich or poor, have our sanity or have it eaten by Cthulhu, God is with us. What is even better is that we have not only each other but the many people who have come before us to aid and support us. The whole thing about this passage is that according to the Catholics, Christ is your goto guy. He’s that friend who is there to bail you out of jail or listen to you at 4am in the morning. Because of this we can cast aside (or throw off, take your pick) whatever is keeping us down. Ant nothing gonna break my stride ant nothing going hold me down, oh no! Our sins may be many, but if we follow the good path, we can see that we are but humans and will be forgiven. Jesus proved Himself by being willing allowing his mortal form to die for us, so we can live for Him. This is suppose to give one a reason of great joy, a reason for living, not used by some crazy off their rocker cult.

What she said: "Your duty is to resist sin, not accept it. Lying whore false prophets taught you that lie. so they could justify thievery and adulterous sins. Thats why you accept blind peace and we accept (as in allow) rape priests."

Little lady that made this video, if you want to see one the worst (and frighten) tangents ever, you talk to my mother about these so called priests. She can easily skin an elephant, cook it and feed the worlds hungry with the fire she puts out. Oh sure we accept these thing in a sense, just in the same we throw Mr. Jackass child molester in jail. Also if you want to talk about thievery and adulterous conduct I would direct you to Fred and Shirley (you know your leaders) public record for many instance of such. If you are unable to keep your own house in order, you are unable to judge others.

What she said: "Paul said the flesh is the enemy of the spirit. Would you invite your archenemy to belly up to a nice supper? NO! You would send him away."

The balance between “the flesh” (in this case meaning sexual relations) and spirituality has always been a tough one in monotheism religions. How can one partake in sex but also give themselves to the divine? If we are strictly speaking about excessive amounts of sex with anything that moves *5, well that is pretty much a no brainier. With more STD’s than I care to Google, you never really know what you are getting yourself into. Hell this passage is good advice at any time. Cause we all know that common sense isn't that common. If I was also a old bitter bitter person, I could always throw out a “Lead by example” comment at Ms. Shirley Phelps.

Oh and Christ would invite his enemy his enemy to supper, he would even heal them too...

What she said: "How you are is how God created you. If you are a vessel of wrath "accept"... blah blah blah"

You would think with the affirmation of one correctly stated and interpreted bible passage, the cult would be happy with what they had and stop. But sadly this is not the case. They move on to Rom 9:22 and just ruin everything. Rom 9:22 has absolutely nothing to do with how God made us, as you state in the video. If they would have actually read the verse, they would see that Romans 9 speaks about God's almost endless patience with the repeated rebellions and departures of the chosen people. Paul uses this statement of fact in the form of a rhetorical question. God, being well a God, could justifiably destroy sinners the first time they sin. If we follow WBC teaching of everything being pre-determined, they we should all be destroyed by now. You know call down lighting, floods and fires, maybe even a zombie invasion! *6 But after how many thousands of years of human history, we are all still here? Instead of trolling humans, and just being a general douche, He patiently endures their sins rather than giving them what sin deserves. Using this passage also proves this cult have never been to a sporting event ever. Otherwise they would have seen John 3:16. So even in the old testament, God is love. And we all know what love is right?

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails ...

What she said: "Either way OBEY and shut up about accepting"
You would think Steveo would have noticed this in editing, perhaps he was do busy ordering his over priced office while saying how humble he is. When the various members of the WBC cult are  done with their childish attitude demonstration you will return to these videos and do some editing. You told us to "shut up about accepting" when in fact you just told us to accept what god had planed for us. Do make up your mind please, your words are already hard enough to understand.

By the cults own admission God created us. He gave us life, feelings, expressions and personalities. He made us vessels of this or that. Since God is all loving, and past that on to us, we may from that very line accept who we are and accept other for who they are. We can (assuming they do no harm) at least live in a peaceful coexistence. We all may believe in different things, we may have one or many Gods, but if we respect each other, if we all work to better ourselves and the world around us, are we really that different?

I think not.

*1 Nor do I want to be, seriously how many pages is this thing! Plus the font size could be a bit bigger, my old eyes bleed from reading small text.

*2 Turn away as in &*&*^* you God go die in a fire. Not “I’m going to do some stupid stuff but repent later on”.

*3 If you accept the Hebrew word Anush as meaning desperately sick or evil, then you might want to rethink your Catholic status. In another passage it state that Jesus Christ himself had a very anush heart.
*4 They never say what sin it is, but one can assume that is “evil whore adulterous sins”
*5 If it’s meant as the simple act of sex, well then… just how do you expect humans to procreate?
*6 This is indeed a private fantasy of mine for May 21st :)
