The Westboro Baptist Church (or WBC) is an Independent Baptist “church” known for its extreme stance against homosexuality, other religions, and anything else that tickles their fancy. They are also known for their greatly offensive protest activities against fallen service men/woman and high profile aka popular people. I embed the above video (don’t worry, I’ll still have some cat pics somewhere in here) today because I think it speaks a lot to my discontent and sheer disgust of this WBC video, and well the cult in general. We have so many problems in the world; more than one person can ever fix, is it not time we come together as a whole and address these problems? Shouldn’t we abandon silly notions of skin color, sexual preference and even religious prodigious to work together to better the world we live in? I mean we only get one, it’s not like we can all move to Mars after trashing this place. Love can and will find a way, but only if we give it a chance! Look at these kids, all of them from different backgrounds; you think they care what the color of a person’s skin is? What their faith is? If they are gay or straight? These kids are suffering from serious illness, and they still create something so ... glorious! How frigging amazing is that?!?! They create a beautiful world by light and shadow, and I am not ashamed to admit it brings a tear to my eye. The shear beauty, the... damn I could go on and on about them. But regrettably this little musing isn't about them, its about... not so happy things. Back at the WBC, spewing hate, purposely causing pain for some fucked up ego? Disgusting! This will not help our future, this won’t help anyone! It’s horrid, its- sorry, I seem to be going off on a rant here…

Lets face it, the world of adults is far from perfect, in fact we might even say 99% of the worlds problems are because of adults. If this weren’t bad enough a growing trend of throwing them onto the backs of children has been on the rise.After all, who better to solve and deal with all of this crap then a six year old right? It's like that one episode of Sliders... The opening song of today’s video, has two children seemingly buying into the cults hate. These kids, who by all rights should be having their brain cells fried with video games, are spewing hate that I believe they don’t even understand. It’s sad really. No it's more like complete and utter bullshit... but before I deluge into another rant, let’s get to the nitty gritty of the video.

I have commented on this before, however I feel completed to do so again.*1 In every appearance be it video, radio on the internet or by TV, Steve does little (more like none) to hide his arrogant and unfounded ego. He actually believes he is just better than everyone else, and always let it show. Honestly I think it very unprofessional when making a informational video, but again that’s just personal opinion. As this video begins with explaining the title and offering biblical proof, Steve makes this immediate assertion he knows everyone in the world, and can then label them as he pleases. He is so confident in himself, that he believes himself able to judge as well, which is a huge no no. I would also quickly point out that only the Divine can truly know what lies in the hearts of humanity, and he should not make baseless claims… considering he hates it so much.
What he said: “Problem is you don’t know what it means! You have some hallmark blah blah blah”.
When dealing with the bible, a book that has been around for supposedly two thousand years, it can certainly be difficult to decipher the true meaning of this or that verse. Translations and misinterpreting are but two of the problems that plague the bible (and people) to this day. Did Jesus really expect us to bring the sword down on people? Did Jesus really say “and the evil shall inherit heaven” or did Jesus really have an evil heart? These things (which the before mentioned WAS actually in the bible) can not only confuse but sometimes steer people away from the good book. In the case of the WBC, it can make people do rather foolish and hateful things. If one actually bothered to return to the source code of the bible and read the whole bloody thing, we begin to see the bigger picture and the “be excellent to each other and to God” message that Jesus tried to convey. So is Mr. ego man right when it comes to this? Let’s move on to his next statement and see some not to surprising results.
What he said: “When Christ gave that commandment he was quoting directly from Lev (19:17-18) where the ONLY bible definition is given”
Seriously? This is just getting old now. Repeat with me for the thousandth time class; when one makes such a direct and to the point statement, one must have the proof to back up the statement or risk having everything discredited. So Steve-o tells us that we phony Christians and fags (but I'm a straight pagan...) can not fathom that Lev 19:17-18 (Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. I am the LORD) is the only biblical definition of how to love one’s neighbor.

Let's begin with what love is:
1 Corinthians 13:4: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
What do we do with said love:
Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.
Proverbs 17:9 He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
About loving thy neighbor:
Matthew 18:15 "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
1 John 2:9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.
1 John 2:11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
1 John 3:15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.
My task was to provide at least one biblical verse that could discredit Steve's statements, to which I responded with more than one. It would seem to me that “ONLY BIBLE DEFINATION” has been greatly exaggerated. However, let's do a "what if" here for a moment. Let's assume that Leviticus 19:17-18 was the only verse in the bible that considered this love thy neighbor business.

Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart: Do not hate your countrymen, got it! So this totally supports hating! /rolls eyes
Rebuke your neighbor frankly: Frankly means to the point, not holding up signs dishonoring the dead. Nor does it say "Go forth and tell everyone they are going to hell, then laugh at them" also doesn't think it mentions "rejoice in the dead of others"
Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge: How many times have the WBC threatened god’s wrath on people because "they tried/have shut the WBC up"

Why yes sir it does mean that. If one is sinning, and do much wrong in the world, any decent human being would try to stop them. Sometimes it’s by rehabilitation, sometimes simple words will do, other times stronger measures are needed. If, for example, my dear mother got on the crazy train and was doing some seriously screw up crap, I would be both morally and honor bound to stop her. She is family after all, and according to the bible we are all family by Christ. I most certainly would not grab a sign and protest a fallen service man’s funeral, after all that would do little to help the actual person wouldn't it?

In today's video, WBC cult member Steve attempted to use a single bible verse as justification for not only his actions, but the actions of his clan. With a pompous ego, he attempted to use his words as truth, thinking no one could do reach of their own. Time and time again we have see the lies of the WBC, and this rebuking is no different. The God of the Christian bible did indeed tell us to rebuke our neighbors, for he wants all of his children to return to him. By Christ's very life, he showed how we as imperfect humans where to live. Not once did he protest a funeral, hide behind laws he claimed to hate, or use constant hate to spread his message of love.
*1 Please excuse my rants for this rebuking, Steve has the uncanny ability to get under my skin. I’m only human! I will edit out most of my ranting as best as I can.
